Wrestler-Power Series #7 Hip Thrusts & Glute Bridges
Hip extension strength is crucial for powerful sprawls and takedowns. The hip thrust (back elevated glute bridge) and straight leg glute bridge are two of my favorite exercise to develop strength and power in the hips in order to stuff takedowns and spin behind your opponent successfully. This movement can be performed with two legs or one leg at a time to help correct imbalances in the body. You can load this movement with chains or a sandbag or simply hold the bridge for time to increase the difficulty of the exercise.
