John Gaglione's Power Series Wrestling Training # 6
Wrestler-Power Series #6 Log Cleans
The hang clean has been a staple for developing power for many top athletic programs. The problem with traditional cleans is that they are difficulty to teach to large groups and they require a great deal of mobility in the upper and lower body as well as technical skills. Log cleans are a great way to develop power in athletes and they have a much lower learning curve. The great thing about the log is that is allows for a neutral grip which is much easier on the wrist and shoulders as opposed to a traditional barbell clean. This lift also mimics the position of many free style wrestling throws as well as returning an opponent to the mat. You will gain powerful hip extension strength that is necessary for optimal wrestling performance.
