Everyone knows for wrestling that you need both a strong upper body as well as a lower body. Often times people focus too much on pressing movements and they tend to focus less on pulling movement. In wrestling pulling strength is king for both the upper and lower body. Pulling strength helps you set up take downs as well as pinning combinations so it is crucial that you train this pattern for both max strength and strength endurance. The trap bar row is a great variation to train max pulling strength while keeping some stress off of the lower back. Just like when performing trap bar deadlifts you can also improve your starting strength by stopping each rep from the floor.
