Athletic Benefits: The slide
board reverse lunge is the most specific leg exercise for grapplers and
all contact athletes. When shooting in for a takedown or tackling someone
in football the athlete must accelerate through the entire range of
motion. This type of lunge is more sport specific and since it is not
decelerative in nature it puts much less stress on the knee and works more
muscles than a traditional forward lunge.
