John Gaglione's Power Series Wrestling
Training # 37
Wrestler-Power Series #37 Sumo Deadlift versus Chains
Sumo Deadlift versus Chains
Movement Category:
Bilateral Hip Dominant
Athletic Benefits: The sumo
deadlift is typically an easier position to get into, since the athlete
doesn’t need as much hip mobility to get down to the bar. For this reason
this variation puts less stress on the back than conventional deadlift and
builds tremendous strength in the hips and posterior chain. The chains can
be utilized to build lockout power in the glutes and hamstrings, which are
extremely important muscles for explosive power.
