Athletic Benefits:  For athletes it is important not only to be able to produce movement, but also resist and control movement. This exercise teaches the athlete to stabilize the spine and resist rotation and lateral flexion. Combat athlete need to be able to resist movements from their opponent. For ball players it will train the same muscles that actually produce movement in an isometric fashion.
