Athletic Benefits: The
sandbag is a great tool for athletes since it mimics picking up an
opponent. The athlete must use their core to stabilize the load as the
sand shifts inside the bag just as they would need to do in a wrestling
match or other combat sport. This is a great exercise for developing hip
power for freestyle wrestling throws, finishing takedowns, and returning
opponents to the mat.
