John Gaglione's Wrestling Exercise of the Week # 10

One Arm/Leg Plank Series

Movement Category: Core

Athletic Benefits:  For athletes it is important not only to be able to produce movement, but also resist and control movement. This exercise teaches the athlete to stabilize the spine and resist rotation and extension.  By eliminating the number of joints in contact with the ground you are taking away part of the athletes base of support which makes the exercise more challenging. Combat athlete need to be able to resist movements from their opponent. This is a great progression from a traditional plank. For ball players it will train the same muscles that actually produce movement in an isometric fashion.
