Long Island Open Team Meets With Success at 2005 Empire State Games

The Long Island Open Team recently returned from a very successful trip to the Empire State Games held this year in the Hudson Valley.

In Greco-Roman the team scores were as follows:  Long Island 61, Central 55, New York City 42, Adirondack 28, Western 20 and Hudson Valley 14.

The members of the Greco-Roman team that medaled or placed are:
119lbs Darren Goldstein Silver (37th Empire State Games Medal), Brian Arbuckle Bronze, 128lbs Steve Ketcham 5th Place, 139lbs Alptekin Ozkilic Gold (Turkish National Champion), 152lbs Christopher Darrow Silver, 167lbs Krystian Tracz Gold, 187lbs Jonathon Crimeni 6th Place, 213lbs Steven Beovich Silver, Richard Renz Bronze, 275lbs Duncan Ianucci Silver

The team was coached by Tony Peraza Head Coach, Anthony Ciolino Asst Coach, John Seal Asst Coach and Dominic Lo Re Asst Coach.

On the heels of their Greco-Roman victory the open team also won the freestyle tournament with team scores of: Long Island 77, Central 49, Western 38, Hudson Valley 27, Adirondack and New York City 16

119lbs Darren Goldstein Gold (38 empire medal, 14 golds), Brian Lifson Silver, 128lbs Rob Goldberg 4th, 139lbs Lou Russo Gold, Steve Ketcham 5th, 152lbs Charlie Landman Silver, Dan Roberts Bronze, Matt Sganga 4th, 167lbs Shaheim Bradshaw 5th, Anthony Rivera 6th, 187lbs Artie Weidler Gold, Stephon Sair Bronze, 213lbs Jack Sullivan Bronze, Phillip Archer 5th, 275lbs Duncan Iannucci Bronze.
