Nationally-ranked Oswego State wrestlers tame Tigers 35-12
Oswego, NY: The 29th ranked Oswego State wrestling team opened the dual meet portion of the schedule in impressive fashion as the Lakers defeated visiting RIT by the score of 35-12 on Wednesday, November 10th.

The Lakers (1-0) trailed 4-0 after the first match when RIT heavyweight Trevor Hiffa defeated Oswego State's Jacob Taylor (Rochester) by the score of 15-1, but from that point the hosts took over.  Walter Sosnowski (Massapequa) pinned RIT's Tom Cao in 4:25 at 125 pounds before Joe Jewett (Watertown) needed only 1:17 to pin Julian Nicholas at 133.  Jewett's pin put the Lakers in front 12-4 and improved his personal record to 6-0 on the season.  At 141, two-time All-American Tenkoran Agyeman (Bronx) added to the Laker lead as he posted a lopsided 25-6 technical fall win over Nathan Garrells.  The win was Agyeman's 99th in his career leaving him one shy of becoming the fifth Oswego State wrestler to reach 100 wins in program history.  He is currently 5-0 on the season. The Lakers continued to roll as Martino Barletta (Syracuse/Fowler) topped Chris Nassar 13-3 at 149, while Dane LaPlante (Carthage) received a forfeit at 157 increasing the Oswego State lead to 27-4.  Frank Petrucci (Montebello) kept things going for the Lakers at 165 pounds as the senior scored an 18-5 decision against RIT's Tom Schwarting.
The Tigers finally got another win at 174 pounds as Gus Mancini used an 11-2 decision over Torry Tooley (Kendall) at 174 pounds making the match score 31-8.  Oswego State wasted no time getting back into the win column as Jon Jagatnarian (Bronx) won by the score of 12-4 at 184 pounds raising the Laker lead to 35-8.  In the final bout of the dual meet at 197 pounds, RIT's Zack Greenberg earned an 8-0 decision over Laker Matt Gough (Penfield).  Oswego State returns to the mat on Saturday, November 20th competing in the Springfield College Invitational.
