Hofstra Schedule Released - Bus Trip
to the CAA's In the Works
Hofstra has released their schedule for the
coming 2003-2004 season. Anticipation is in the air after last year's
season. On tap for home matches this year are outstanding match-ups with
Nebraska, Wisconsin, Harvard and UPenn. It is Jantzen's senior year and it
will be great for all Long Island wrestling fans to come out to Hofstra and see
him compete one last time. CAA conference matches with Boston University
and
Sacred Heart will also take place at the Hofstra Arena. Sacred
Heart has really made a name for themselves the past few seasons in the CAA and
with second year Head Coach Andy Seras will look to challenge for the top spot.
Making his last appearance on Long Island in a college wrestling match is senior
Mike Messina for Sacred Heart.
A great way to show your support for the team is to
purchase season tickets! Season tickets are available now by
clicking here. Individual tickets should be
available for purchase beginning November 7th.
One change to the schedule is the Bearcat
Open normally held at Binghamton University will be held at Cortland and be
named the New York Open while work
goes on at the Binghamton gym. If you are interested in traveling to this
early season tournament rooms are available at the Quality Inn in Cortland for
$71.95-79.95. Their telephone number is 607-756-5622.
The CAA conference championship is being
held at Rider this year on March 5-6, 2004. With the high school championship
tournament moved up to February 27-28 in Buffalo there is no excuse to miss the
NCAA Championship Tournament qualifier.
Rider is a short ride down the Jersey Tpke to Exit
7A and I hope we get a good turnout to cheer Hofstra on. If enough
interest is shown maybe a bus trip and accomodations could be arranged for a
group. If this trip to the CAA conference championships would interest you
send an email to Steve Meehan at
rsmeehan@optonline.net.
