Four Sign With Hofstra During Early Signing So Far
Hofstra announced earlier this week they
have received two National Letters of Intent. Mitch Smith
from Ripley High School in West Virginia and Mike Pucillo out of
Walsh Jesuit High School in Ohio have officially signed to wrestle for
the Pride. Smith is a two-time state champion and three-time
finalist. Smith also added a Junior National title to his resume
this past July, when he captured the 140 pound weight class. Smith
is a four-time Junior National All-American and a two-time Cadet
National All-American. Pucillo is three-time place winner and
two-time finalist in the state of Ohio. He has won the Ironman
Tournament and placed second at the Beast of the East, two of the
toughest folkstyle tournaments in the country. This past summer
Pucillo earned All-American honors at Junior Nationals wrestling up a
weight class. According to Hofstra Coach Tom Ryan Alton Lucas
from West Babylon High School and John Andriac from Port Jervis
High school in Section 9 and currently wrestling for Nassau Community
College have also signed National Letters of Intent. Lucas was the
152lb New York State Champion last year and runner-up in 2003.
Lucas is also a 4-time Cadet All-American with a Cadet National title in
2003. In 2004 he was an All-American in both styles at Junior
Nationals and placed second at the FILA Cadet Freestyle Nationals.
Andriac placed fourth in New York in 2002 and finished third at the
NJCAA National Championships last year. (November 18)
