SKRETKOWICZ AND GRIFFIN GARNER CAA WEEKLY AWARDS

HEMPSTEAD, New York - Hofstra University senior Chris Skretkowicz (Hamburg, NJ) and freshman Charles Griffin (Reading, PA) have been named the Colonial Athletic Association's weekly wrestling award winners for the week ending November 21. Skretkowicz and Old Dominion's Adam Wright share the CAA's Wrestler of the Week award while Griffin and Rider University's Tim Harner share the CAA Rookie of the Week honor.

Skretkowicz, a two-time All-American at 197 pounds, recorded a 5-1 week including a 12-7 victory over eighth-ranked B.J. Padden from Nebraska last Friday in Lincoln. The fifth-ranked Skretkowicz posted a 4-1 record at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) Kaufman Open on Saturday, dropping an 8-4 decision to second-ranked Jake Rosholt of Oklahoma State in the title match.

Wright, a 184-pound junior at Old Dominion, posted a 4-1 week including an 11-7 decision over fifth-ranked Matt Pell from Missouri in the Missouri Open. Wright's only blemish was to third-ranked All-American Brian Glynn from Illinois.

Griffin, a 133-pound freshman, tallied a 6-0 record last week including a 5-0 mark and the UNO Kaufman Open championship. Griffin began his college career with a win by fall over Dominick Moyer from Nebraska 2:27 into the match. He recorded three major decisions, two victories by fall and one tech fall last week.

Harner, a 133-pound freshman from Norristown, Pennsylvania, entered the Pennsylvania Keystone Classic as the seventh seed but won all four of his matches, including wins over the top two seeds, to win his weight class.

The 10th-ranked Pride of Hofstra will host second-ranked Lehigh University this Sunday, November 28th at Hofstra Arena. Match time is 5 p.m.
