Hofstra Moves Up to #11 in the Latest Intermat

New team rankings have come out on InterMat and
Hofstra has moved into the #11 slot. Oklahoma State is first followed by
Nebraska, Illinois, Missouri and Michigan to round out the top five. In
the next group, Penn State, Iowa State, Lehigh, Oklahoma and Iowa follow.
Right on their heels is Hofstra who is sitting ahead of Minnesota, Wisconsin,
Central Michigan and UPenn.
Several Long Island collegiate wrestlers appeared
in the Division 1 poll. At 125 pounds Tom Noto from Hofstra has the #5
spot while at 133 Ricky LaForge of Hofstra holds down the #13 position with Mike
Messina (Happauge HS) of Sacred Heart getting an honorable mention. At 149
Jesse Jantzen (Shoreham-Wading River HS) of Harvard sits in the #1 slot.
Hofstra wrestlers Paul Siemon #15 at 157 pounds, Ralph Everett #5 at 165 pounds,
Noel Thompson #11 at 174 pounds, Brad Christie HM at 184 pounds and Chris
Skretkowicz # 5 at 197 pounds all hold spots in this weeks poll. Also
appearing at 197 pounds is Matt Daddino (Sewanhaka District, Carey HS) for West
Virginia in the #16 postion.
Hofstra is next in action at the CAA Duals at
George Mason University in Virgina and then back home for a one o'clock match on
Sunday afternoon February 1st against Sacred Heart University. Hauppauge
graduate, Mike Messina, will return to Long Island for his last collegiate match
at home when he wrestles for Sacred Heart aginst Hofstra's Ricky LaForge.
