HOFSTRA PINS DOWN ARMY

Senior Ralph Everett Hempstead, NY --

The Hofstra Wrestling team pinned down the United States Military Academy 31-9, in a dual meet at Gillis Field House in West Point, NY.  The Pride was led 157-pound senior Paul Siemon and 197-pound junior Chris Skretkowicz, whom both recorded technical falls.  Hofstra improves to 1-1, while Army falls to 1-1 on the season.

Hofstra got on the board first as 174-pound senior Noel Thompson recorded a major decision to give the Pride the lead it would not relinquish.  Army brought the score to within one, as the Black Knight’s 184-pounder Luke Calvert upset 17th ranked Brad Christie, 12-5.

Hofstra recorded three straight victories to pull away 16-3.  Skretkowicz’s led the rout with a five point technical fall against Todd Wisman, followed by heavyweight sophomore Dan Garay, who scored a 9-2 decision over Bo Reynolds, wrestling in his first match of the season since finishing out the football season.

The Pride finished strong winning the last four bouts of the night, including Siemon’s technical fall and a 12-4 major decision by 174-pound senior Ralph Everett (pictured above) over Kurt Pryor.
