The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending February 11th, 2018, is 113 lb junior, Sean Carter, of North Babylon. Sean went 5-0 to win the 113 lb. Section XI Division 1 Championships, including defeating 3 returning All County wrestlers, and 2017 State Champion, Dylan Ryder of Half Hollow Hills West.

The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending February 4th, 2018, is 220 lb junior, Angel Pineda, of Sachem East HS. Entering the League 1 Tournament unranked and seeded 4th, Angel placed 1st ahead of 3 ranked wrestlers. He was 3-0 on the day, including 2 pins and a major decision.

Week 9 - Brenden Goodrich of Mt. Sinai HS
The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending January 28, 2018, is 99 lb freshman, Brenden Goodrich, of Mount Sinai HS. At the NYSPHSAA Dual Championships, Brenden went 4-0 to help the Mustangs win the Division 2 Championship. In the semifinals, his 9-0 win in the final bout, gave MS the win, 32-30, and in the final, his 5-3 victory sealed the title for Mount Sinai.
Week 8 - James Langan of Wantagh HS
The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending January 21, 2018, is 182 lb senior, James Langan, of Wantagh HS. In the Nassau County Dual Meet Championships, James went 4-0 with 3 pins, and a 3-1 decision over the very tough Angelo Petrakis (Massapequa) to help seal the Dual Meet title for Wantagh.
Week 7 - Joey Slackman of Commack HS
The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending January 14, 2018, is 285 lb junior, Joey Slackman, of Commack HS. Wrestling out of the #9 seed, the Commack big man went 4-0 (including wins over #8, #4, and #2) to win the 285 bracket, and become the first Commack wrestler to capture an Eastern States Championship.
Week 6 - Jonathan Loew of Wantagh HS
The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending January 7, 2018, is 195 lb senior, Jonathan Loew, of Wantagh HS. In the finals of the Patrick J Butler Memorial Duals, Jonathan won the battle of defending Section Champions, when he defeated Elijah Rodriguez of Long Beach, 7-0.

Week 5 - Preston Maucere of Saint Anthony's HS
The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending December 31, 2017, is 120 lb junior, Preston Maucere, of Saint Anthony’s HS. Unseeded in his bracket, Maucere went 5-0 this weekend to win the title at the 10th annual Prep Slam Invitational in Georgia. This included wins over two All State wrestlers (Louisiana and Tennessee), a state champion from Louisiana, and Nick Masters, 2017 Georgia State Champion/2017 USAW Cadet FS National runner-up.

The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending December 24, 2017, is 126 lb junior, William Obert-Thorn, of Connetquot HS. Will was 3-0 for the week which including a major decision, a pin to help the T-Birds win a close dual with a very good Ward Melville team, and a decision over Sectional Finalist/#2 Ranked Jacob Borland of Northport.

The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending December 17, 2017, is 99 lb freshman, Ally Fitzgerald, of Lynbrook HS. On Saturday, Ally went 4-0, including 3 pins, to win the Southside Tournament and became the first female to win a high school wrestling tournament on Long Island.

The LIWA Wrestler of the Week, for the week ending December 10, 2017, is 132 lb senior, Kyle Reilly, of Smithtown West HS. In their dual meet with Mount Sinai, Reilly defeated Sectional Champ/NYS DII 3rd place, Matt Campo. Then, on Saturday, Reilly won the North Babylon Tournament, going 4-0, including a finals win over Sectional Finalist/#1 Ranked, Chris Esposito of Northport.

Coming in unseeded, Dan won the MacArthur Tournament ahead of 4 All Section/All State wrestlers.
