Riley at 90 . . .
Huntington
senior Shawn Riley is 14-0
this season for the Blue Devil wrestling team, bringing his career mark
to 90-6. He has won championships in the Huntington, Port Jervis and
Windsor tournaments. Riley is looking to win his second Section XI
title and hopes to improve upon his third place finish in last year’s
state tournament.
Barring injury, it appears to be only a
matter of time before Riley joins a very select group. Only seven
Huntington wrestlers have ever won 100 or more matches in a Blue Devil
uniform, including Steven Palacios
(137), Stephon Sair (136),
Jeff Thomas (120),
Gene McNeil (117),
Mike Picozzi (112),
Drew Jackson (107),
Pat Flynn (106) and
Adrian Bonilla (106). State
champions Jack Piana (97)
and Jim Amira (95) fell
just short, as did three-time Section XI place winner
Luis Bonilla (95). |
