The USAW lesson plans are designed to introduce the basic skills required in the activity to a group of young boys and girls.
The dynamics requires a vast amount of “drilling” in order to gain the skills and the timing of moving a series of body parts into a well-coordinated fluid motion.
Teachers are encouraged doing a vast amount of teaching of the skills prior to any competition. Skills in order to be a learned skills, requires thousand of repetitions.
We encourage all teacher/coaches constantly reviewing these skills and reinforcing skills prior to every lesson. These lessons need not be completed in one practice session. It is better to be constantly connecting the skills to the activity and keep reminding them of learning the positions and pace involved in wrestling.
Do not rush, each child will learn at a different pace and patience is a virtue. Wrestling is a multi-complex activity and takes years mastering some of these skills.
